Motor Risk Assessment process
Risk Review

Motor Risk Management

Motor risk management is increasingly a key area for business.

The running of a Motor Fleet brings with it a number of major risks.

Our motor risk assessment process will work with you to review

Initial action –

  • Health check and assessment
  • Review of existing policies
  • Identify and rank the risks
  • Discuss issues arising
  • Report and follow up

Driving at Work programmes

  • On-line risk assessments
  • Review driving convictions/accidents – particularly the previous 18-24 months
  • Identify all higher risk drivers (in excess of 20,000 miles pa)
  • All drivers with convictions/accidents/high risk to receive motor risk management workshop
  • Consideration of in-car or in-cab training for highest risk drivers
  • Retraining for all drivers with convictions/accidents

Other considerations

  • Speed awareness courses
  • Drink driver rehabilitation
  • Fuel efficiency
  • Licence checking (DVLA Access)
  • Driver handbooks
  • Motor claims analysis
  • On-line risk assessments – to assist in prioritising on-road training
  • In-car or in-cab camera systems – work from g-force activation

“Grey” Fleets
These are the owner drivers who drive for other peoples businesses (i.e. those employees or contractors who drive for business but not allocated a company vehicle). The employer is still responsible for carrying out risk assessments but also should check on the following on a regular basis:

  • Driving licences
  • Convictions
  • Accident history
  • Vehicle servicing
  • Vehicle MOT
  • Insurance – does it include business use in person
